Stripping interior

So today we removed the seats and did a good hollowing out of the interior just to see what we have to work with. Check out our driver seat...yes thats right, it was held together ghetto style using a few U-bolts. At least it was sturdy and didn't give us any problems. The back seats were a snap to get out. The base just lifted out and the back bracket was held by 2 bolts. We also removed as much of the interior rear paneling, carpet, and padding as we could. Note the well placed plastic fork in the eletrical system.

Love the plastic fork! It reminds me of my old bug which had a bolt find its way behind the seat and into the voltage regulator. Luckily, due to a strange coincidence, I happened to have a fire extinguisher handy when the smoke started filling the cab. I never got the thing wired right again after that.
Wow, I'm glad your ok. That sounds like a truly unfortunate mishap. Loose bolts take out computers all the time, darn them!
